Kitchen Cook - Aramark

Brehm Preparatory School is a small fully accredited, not-for-profit coeducational boarding school for students with learning disabilities or differences. Since 1982, Brehm has been successfully teaching Junior High and High School students with language based and complex learning disabilities to "learn how to learn". Our family style school is uniquely designed to foster independence and responsibility. 

We utilize Aramark for our food service needs and have a decided a Aramark team that prepares breakfast, lunch, dinner and caters our special events.  Our Aramark Chef currently has a position open for a Kitchen Cook in our cafeteria.  The position is for a part-time Kitchen Cook with the potential to be full-time for the right person. This position will be responsible for the preparation of meals for Brehm students, staff and guests for breakfast, lunch, dinner and special events. This is an Aramark employee position. All applications receieved will be forwarded to our Chef. 

Position: Kitchen Cook

Employment Status: Part-Time with the potential to be full-time, approximately 30-38 hours per week.

Experience and Education: Experienced Cook with a culinary degree or 5 years of equivalent experience in a full service restaurant environment or similar food service background.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of kitchen basics, food handling and cooking procedures, workplace safety preferred.
  • Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others.
  • Ability to monitor/assess performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Actively look for ways to help people.
  • Ability to talk to others to convey information effectively.
  • Ability to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean, cut and cook meat, fish and poultry.
  • Cook foodstuffs according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions or numbers of portions to be served.
  • Clean and inspect galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operation.
  • Apportion and serve food to students, Brehm employees and guests.
  • Direct activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.
  • Wash pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other cooking equipment.
  • Compile and maintain records of food use and expenditures.
  • Take inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Bake breads, rolls, and other pastries.
  • Train new employees.
  • Monitor gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure equipment is working properly.
  • Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
