Foundation Associate

Brehm Preparatory School is a small fully accredited, not-for-profit coeducational boarding school for students with learning disabilities or differences. Since 1982, Brehm has been successfully teaching Junior High and High School students with language based and complex learning disabilities to "learn how to learn". Our family style school is uniquely designed to foster independence and responsibility.

We are currently searching for a Foundation Associate to work for the Brehm Foundation. A successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills and must be outcome-oriented. She or he should be poised, tactful, energetic, enthusiastic, sincere, witty, and passionate about working for a non-profit school that helps youth and young adults with complex learning disabilities. The ability to work in a fast paced environment with strong attention to detail is essential. You will be fully engaged and busy from the first day.

Position Title: Foundation Associate

Department: Brehm Foundation

Reports to: Director of the Foundation

Supervises: This is not a supervisory position

Work Hours: Part-Time to Full-Time, 12 Month Employee

Pay Type: Hourly

Compensation: To be determined at time of hire and will be based upon experience and skills

Minimum Educational Requirement: College Degree in related field preferred, but not required

Minimum Experience: 3 years or more in fundraising for nonprofits organizations/public charities, marketing, event planning, alumni relations, public or customer relations.

Specific Requirement: Required to work 6 Saturdays per Academic year

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Event Coordinator and Alumni relations coordinator for the Brehm School Foundation;
  • Raise funds working with the Foundation Team, Foundation Board, and other volunteers;
  • Collaborate with Brehm Faculty/Staff, Parents, Alumni, Board Members, Donors, and other volunteers on planning events and developing relationships with prospective donors;
  • Manage the opportunities to connect with Alumni and their families;
  • Build community relationships and solicit support of businesses and organizations for sponsorships of fundraising events;
  • In conjunction with the Brehm Board and Faculty/Staff, plan, implement and coordinate the Annual Giving Campaign;
  • Maintain on-going financial support and other communications to parents and staff through monthly newsletters, correspondence, e-mail and other communications means;
  • Create and expand financial support to Brehm through a range of options including, but not limited to, planned giving, e-giving, stock gifts, and corporate and foundation grants;
  • Process all donor gifts and donor recognition correspondence;
  • Spearhead and coordinate donor relations activities;
  • Identity and cultivate major gift prospects;
  • Partner with the Director of Communications to effectively plan and implement effective, strategic public relations efforts, including establishing a strong local and regional Brehm presence;
  • When appropriate, serve Brehm's representative in local Chamber of Commerce and Civic Club activities;
  • Other duties as assigned.
