ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS

Position Overview

The primary focus for the Associate Director of Admissions is to support the Brehm Admissions Department in the recruitment and enrollment of mission-appropriate students for middle school, high school, and post-secondary programs. Inherent in this task is observing and researching admissions trends both internally and industry-wide, implementing research-based marketing strategies, networking, and presenting. In addition, s/he will be responsible for assisting in the completion of a Marketing Plan and advertising together with the Marketing Committee to promote Brehm's visibility and recruitment efforts. 

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responds to inquiries from students and families
  • Ensures resource materials distributes for student recruitment and retention programs
  • Set up informational visits and/or student interviews; meet with families and students, coordinate separate tours for students and parents, coordinate interviews with administrators
  • Maintain regular communication with prospective families 
  • Efficiently marshal families through the admissions pipeline, from inquiry to enrollment
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with potential referral sources
  • Seek and acquire relevant training and professional development
  • Review applications, psycho-educational testing, neuropsychological evaluations, IEPs, transcripts, and other educational documentation to determine an applicant's appropriateness for Brehm/OPTIONS
  • Trains and assists staff in the process of advising students and families concerning admission requirements, financial aid and scholarships, alternative educational opportunities, and Brehm policies and procedures
  • Participates in the development of operating goals and objectives for Brehm; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance admissions, as appropriate
  • Serves independently to develop and maintain partnerships between the educational consultants, local school systems, and other referral sources
  • Maintain contact with educational consultants, feeder schools, psychologists, and other professionals, providing them with current program materials
  • Travel domestically and internationally to educational and recruitment events
  • Organizes and implements all aspects of national and international events to promote Brehm including utilizing presentation and promotional materials, maintaining budgetary and operational controls at the events
  • Participate in regular staff and Administrative meetings, as required
  • Actively pursue professional development
  • Provide supervisory support to the Admissions Administrative Assistant, when needed.

  • Knowledge of learning disabilities; educational background and teaching experience

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Marketing, Business, or other related disciplines

Working Conditions

  • Office, campus-wide, domestic and international travel, large educational conferences and trade shows, presentations, receptions

 

Conditions of Employment

  • Must possess or be able to acquire a valid United States Passport or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
  • Must be able to meet the Illinois State Board of Education requirements including passing background check, physical examination, and TB test
  • Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire
  • Must be able to pass a driving record check 

 

Travel

  • Travel away from home required based on the needs of the Admissions Department

 

Physical Demands

  • Carrying large bags or parcels containing trade show materials
  • Performing duties and responsibilities directly following long flights with multiple/major time zone changes
  • Standing for long periods of time (up to 4 hours)
  • Maintaining poise and presentation for multiple contacts (up to 100 people) over the course of a day
