Information Systems and Technology Coordinator

Position Overview:

Brehm Preparatory School, Inc., invites experienced applicants for our Information Systems and Technology Coordinator position. This position oversees all IST functions in our organization. The Coordinator supervises the IST team, manage the company's technology operations, and the implementation of new IT systems and policies.  The ideal candidate will be experienced in creating and implementing IT policies and systems within the K-12 Education sector. The goal is to ensure IST systems meet the growing needs of the 21st Century classroom and to support the students, staff, and families of Brehm Preparatory School Inc.


  • Oversee all technology operations (i.e. network security, client support, audio-visual and telecommunications systems) and evaluate them according to defined industry standards and goals outlined by the school's Administration
  • Devise, establish, and continuously enhance IST policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by the organization
  • Analyze the business and operational requirements of all departments to determine and anticipate their technology needs
  • Accomplish financial objectives by determining service level required; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances
  • Selecting and purchasing appropriate hardware and software
  • Ensure software licensing laws are followed
  • Provide user training, support, advice and feedback
  • Ensure smooth delivery and operation of IST services by monitoring systems performance; evaluating the functionality of systems; testing and modifying systems to ensure that they operate reliably
  • Create processes and standards for selection, implementation, and support of systems
  • Manage E-Rate Applications
  • Implementation and programming of computer networks and software
  • Development of private intranet and public Internet sites
  • Safeguards assets by planning and implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures
  • Supervise staff by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and developing personal growth opportunities
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards; adhering to legal regulations
  • Serves as a member of the Administration Team
  • Serves as a member on the Crisis Management Team
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks


  • Master's degree in a computer field, preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer field required

Experience and Knowledge

  • Mac Systems Administration experience is a plus
  • G-Suite Administration experience is a plus
  • Experience in controlling information technology budgets
  • Experience as IT director or similar role
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications
  • Excellent understanding of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems
  • Management or supervisory experience, required

Supervision of Others

  • Supervise departmental staff

Work Hours:  

  • Generally, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday with some nights and weekends required; Full-Time
  • Required to work during various extracurricular activities throughout the academic year
  • Shared on-call with others for emergency responses

  • Possess and maintain a valid Illinois driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to meet ISBE employment requirements including passing a background check, physical exam, and TB test
  • Valid personal vehicle insurance
